Family Learning
During the last few years, thousands of family members in the Aylsham Cluster have taken part in at least one family learning session.
The feedback has been very positive, with parents, carers, grandparents and other family members really enjoying making or learning something at school with their child.
The sessions are aimed to provide opportunities for working or playing together and for family members to develop a greater awareness of the school environment and what their child is learning.
The feedback from the sessions has been very positive and is constantly reviewed to help with planning for future sessions. There has been a great deal of research in recent years about family involvement in learning and the benefits go far beyond improving academically. Studies show that children of involved parents have better social skills, are less vulnerable to stress and enjoy better health. They also experience greater life satisfaction and have more successful relationships. Some parents are unsure about how they can support their child’s learning and one of the best ways to support their development is to simply have fun with them.
